Whether you’re playing or watching, football is a fun game. The object is to move the ball into the opponent’s end zone. There are two teams of 11 players. There are also specialized players on the field called “special teams.”
A football game is played on a 100-yard field with 5-yard stripes and hash marks. Each team has a 10-yard end zone. Each team has a goal post at the back of its end zone. During the game, players run, pass, and dribble the ball to move it into the opponent’s end zone. The team that catches the ball in the end zone is awarded six points. The team that kicks the ball through the goal post is awarded an extra point.
There are a number of rules to follow. The ball must be in play when the clock stops. If the ball goes out of play, it’s time to restart the play. Any part of a player with the ball must not touch the sidelines. The team with the ball has four chances to advance the ball ten yards, known as a down. If the team fails to advance the ball ten yards in four downs, they lose the ball.
There are also a number of strategies. For instance, if a team is in the end zone but isn’t able to advance the ball, they can attempt a field goal. In addition, they may try to score two extra points by running into the end zone.
